Trademark Opposition for a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) is a statutory legal procedure that allows an LLP to object to the registration of a trademark that has been published in the Trademark Journal and poses a risk to its existing brand, business identity, or intellectual property. For LLPs, trademarks represent commercial goodwill, market reputation, and enforceable IP rights. Allowing a deceptively similar trademark to get registered can result in brand dilution, customer confusion, loss of exclusivity, and future litigation risks. Trademark opposition must be filed within 4 months from the date of publication in the Trademark Journal. This deadline is strict and cannot be extended under any circumstances.
