Subscriptions
Subscriptions overview
What recurring billing does and how the pieces fit together.
Recurring billing
Subscriptions bill a plan to a customer on a schedule (monthly or yearly). Use them for retainers, memberships, SaaS-style charges, or any repeating invoice.
The building blocks
| Piece | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Product | A grouping (for example "Support") |
| Plan | A priced, recurring line under a product (monthly/yearly, with a price and optional tax rate) |
| Add-on | An optional extra priced item under a product |
| Coupon | A percentage discount code |
| Subscription | A customer signed up to a plan, with quantity, add-ons, next billing date, and status |
Statuses
Subscriptions can be active, trialing, past due, paused, or cancelled. The list and reports group by status.
